Karma Kitchen

2009-03-13

Since one of my (only?) readership is going to DC in May, just thought I’d share about this restaurant that I heard about, but have not yet been able to visit.  Maybe worth a stop on your trip?

Karma Kitchen

Imagine a restaurant where there are no prices on the menu and where the check reads $0.00 with only this footnote: “Your meal was a gift from someone who came before you. We hope you will pay-it-forward however you wish.”

That’s Karma Kitchen, a volunteer-driven experiment in generosity started in Berkeley, California on March 31st 2007 , by a group of volunteers inspired to seed the value of a “gift economy”

On February 15, in an effort to grow this beautiful experiment in generosity , we launched Karma Kitchen in Washington, DC at the Polo India Club ( 1736 Connecticut Avenue, NW)

We look forward to serving you, your friends, and your family at Karma Kitchen and hope you join us in multiplying this unique gift-economy experience!

See our events section for updates on Karma Kitchen schedule. Contact us to learn more about Karma Kitchen and opportunities to volunteer!

Come join the circle of giving!!

They also have a Facebook page.

What a great concept! I don’t think we’ll see one in NYC anytime soon though 🙂
